York Agricultural Society
The History
The York Agricultural Society was founded in 1840 in York, Western Australia’s first inland town. In its formative years, the York Agricultural Society was instrumental in the establishment of the local community, infrastructure and agriculture following the settlement of the York in 1830s. An annual fair was established for the purpose of the sale and show of stock and wool to encourage improvement in the breed of sheep and other stock.
These days the York Agricultural Society primary focus is the annual York Agricultural Show held on the first Saturday of September each year as a celebration of all things agricultural and the York community.
